Another from SPEEDWING:
“Visual!” I called out, “I have visual on the k-raider!” It was dancing and spinning at 11 o’clock over my head, dodging ice blocks with speed and precision. Clearly we had a live one.
“Stay to my starboard,” called Freya, “and don’t get ahead of me, even if it means we’re at a tactical disadvantage. Got me?”
“I got you,” I said, the adrenaline pumping through me as the pursuit began in earnest. The Kalian was very nimble, much more so than in any of the sims, and seemed able to accelerate and decelerate almost at will. I wondered if it was piloted at all, or if it was being run by an AI.
“All Quads now fully engaged!” Came Garin’s call across the COM. “We’ve got a nest of thirty k-raiders we’ve stumbled into people! Take no chances. Containment first, then kill.” That meant we had to occupy them for as much time as we could until fleet wing could scramble more flyers out to the cloud to clean them up. As usual, we were getting the grunt work.

I love a good dogfight! Looks exciting!
I always enjoy a good space battle!
I dont quite know what's going on, but even without any background information, this is an intriguing snippet. The familiarity with such advance take makes me think this is a story placed far in the future, which makes me wonder just what is going on. A war? Why? Those kinds of things. Neat ideas here.
Ice blocks overhead?
Sue Ann, there are ice blocks in space, usually a rocky core with carbon dioxide ice. And "overhead" is "up", or 12 o'clock, in space. But thanks for asking.

What a fun scene!! I wish it could be longer than a snippet!

Well Jessica, you could alaways buy the book! It's only $4.99 on the Kindle, or you can buy a print edition from me for $10.00 and I'll sign it, or you can buy it from my publisher for $15.99!
